Child sponsorshipAMURTEL cares for 130 abused, abandoned or orphaned children in its Lotus Center in Ulaanbaatar. We still require sponsors for many of these children, and new children we would like to take in from the streets. $30 a month provides a child with food, accommodation, healthcare and clothing. It also helps us provide counseling, educational trips and skills training to prepare the child for an independent future.

PHILIPPINES
Ely Alderete started a small diaper factory with a loan she received from AMURT. She has become successful due to hard work and ingenuity, and can now offer a better life to her six children. |
Gifts that Multiply ThemselvesMany women in the Philippines struggle to support their families. AMURT and AMURTEL provide them with a solution: loans and technical training to help them start livelihood projects such as fruit and vegetable vending, food production, livestock raising and handicrafts. When the loan is repaid it goes into a revolving fund to help more women help themselves. So this is a gift that keeps growing to help even more people become financially independent. Since 1989, we have helped over 3,000 women. |

THAILAND![]() Along with healthcare and education we provide the children with celebrations to enjoy the happiness of social interaction. |
Provide Hope for Abandoned Children
The Baan Unrak and Baan Dada projects provide a loving home and
education for over 200 children, many of whom might otherwise end up in
prostitution. The projects are based on the philosophy of neohumanism
that promotes universal love for all created beings; so the children
practice yoga, care for the environment, and study their local culture.
The children stay connected to the Karen cultural roots by learning dance and song.
"Dear Friends, The back pack is wonderful! Now I can easily carry my books

INDIA![]() Some schools, such as this one in Purulia district, West Bengal, do not have buildings! School closes down when it rains or when the hot sun rises in the sky. |
Providing Opportunities for Poor ChildrenThroughout India AMURT is providing opportunities for poor children by improving their quality of education, and by caring for orphans in family-oriented childrens homes. Many of our projects are based in rural areas, which have not benefited from the expanding Indian economy. With support from this catalog we would like to provide classrooms for open air or dilapidated schools, and finance creative activities such as art and dance for the poorest children. |
