After the 2010 earthquake, AMURT
Haiti expanded its programs to meet
the needs of the affected population.
In the Anse Rouge area, 25 miles
northwest of Gonaives, AMURT has
employed returnees in a comprehensive environmental restoration
program, stabilizing damaged
landscapes with thousands of trees. In
Port-au-Prince, AMURT is training
camp residents of all ages in organic
kitchen gardening to help people
become more self sufficient.
AMURT is training earthquake affected families to grow vegetables in old tires and plastic bags - innovative options for crowded camps.
"Please invest in AMURT, they
are worth every penny. The most service for your buck is done here"

HAITI, MEXICO & NICARAGUA
In Haiti, Mexico and Nicaragua, AMURT and AMURTEL are running schools in
poor neighborhoods in Port au Prince, Monterrey and Managua. The schools
provide nutritious lunches and free education for over 950 children to
help them get a better start in life.
We take a
holistic approach to education.
Along with the standard curriculum, our
schools offer classes in art, computer skills,
dance and yoga, as well as recreational and
educational field trips. |
For these children, education is their only hope of
breaking the cycle of poverty.
